Limits and safety

Trading limits apply to each position and to the house as a whole. The figures below are defaults; the trading screen uses each market’s configured limits.

Limits for one position

Position size, also called notional, is your margin multiplied by leverage.

LimitAmount
Minimum margin10 Blood
Minimum position size100 Blood
Maximum position size10,000,000 Blood
Maximum leverage1000×

For example, 100 Blood of margin at 100× leverage creates a 10,000 Blood position.

Limits shared across traders

Market capacity

BTC and ETH each allow up to 1 billion Blood of long positions and 1 billion Blood of short positions. Each cap is shared by all traders. Longs and shorts use separate caps.

Each Maneki can have up to 10 pending opening orders and up to 20 open positions and pending opening orders combined. Pending closing orders do not use the opening-order limits.

When a limit is reached

A pending opening order reserves your margin, but does not reserve market capacity. Limits are checked again when it fills. If there is no room, the order is cancelled and its margin is released.

Reaching these limits prevents new positions from opening. It does not stop existing positions from being closed or liquidated.

Price checks

Before opening a position, the house compares the market’s mark price with an oracle price based on outside spot markets. If they differ too much, new positions cannot open until the prices are within the allowed range.

Closing and liquidation use the mark price without this comparison.

How liquidation works →

Market status

Active

The market accepts new positions and allows closing and liquidation.

Opens paused

New positions cannot open. Closing and liquidation continue at the live mark price.

Retired

The market is permanently closed to new trading. Remaining positions can be settled at a fixed mark price recorded when the market is retired. If a live price is unavailable, the last valid mark recorded onchain is used. Anyone can trigger settlement; a retired market cannot reopen.
